Takeshi Yasuda

Celadon glazed porcelain

Please Note - we now have new Takeshi Yasuda ceramics in stock, details to follow. Please call the Crafts Study Centre for more information.

Takeshi Yasuda is one of the most celebrated potters working in Britain today, Born in Tokyo, he was apprenticed to the Daisei-Gama pottery in Mashiko between 1963-66, and established his first studio there.  He settled in Britain in 1973, combining his creative work with teaching for Art Schools and Universities across the UK.

These pieces are a selection of his new work in celadon-glazed porcelain.  The subtle off-green glaze enhances emphatic and idiosyncratic forms, delicately drawing attention to the hollows and edges of the pots, as well as their overall mass; Takeshi has recently returned from an extended trip to China, and these new pots emphasise his refined knowledge of the importance of historic Chinese and Korean ceramics, and their application to contemporary work.
